Join BAFTA award-winning Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax, To Walk Invisible) for an exclusive Yorkshire preview of the second series of Gentleman Jack, her hit drama for BBC One and iPlayer.
Series creator and writer Sally will be joined by BAFTA award-winning Suranne Jones (Vigil, Doctor Foster, Save Me) and other cast at this Halifax premiere. Filmed in and around West Yorkshire, Gentleman Jack is a remarkable love story set in 1834 in the complex, changing world of Halifax - the cradle of the industrial revolution. All eyes are on Anne Lister and Ann Walker as they set up home together at Shibden Hall as wife and wife, determined to combine their estates and become a power couple. Anne Lister’s entrepreneurial spirit frightens the locals as much as what was considered to be her unconventional love life and, with Halifax on the brink of revolution, her refusal to keep a low profile becomes provocative and dangerous. Series two again uses the real life diaries of Anne Lister - part of which were written in code - as its source, with every part of Lister’s story based in historical fact and the five million words she wrote in her journals. Gentleman Jack has all the warmth, wit, and complexity that audiences have come to associate with Sally Wainwright’s writing, and at its heart is Anne's relationship with Ann Walker. Following the screening hear direct from Sally Wainwright, Suranne Jones and other cast as they take audience questions in a live Q&A. If you are interested in this event then please be sure to contact The Lexo Club Concierge for more information or to make a booking. This screening premiere is taking place in Yorkshire and organised by the BBC. Everyone at The Lexo Club would like to wish you a pleasant St. Patricks Day and we hope you have a spectacular day celebrating...
If you’ve ever been to a long music festival–and by long, we don’t mean Friday after work until Sunday morning–you know how after a week or so, you really wish that life would always be the way it had been during the gathering of people that’s just about to dry up and blow away, except in your memory.
Well, multiply that exhilaration by 100, and you might be getting close to the fever and fervor brought about in the Black Rock Desert of northwest Nevada, about 100 miles north-northeast of Reno in late August and early September. The Burning Man festival is more about the journey that is Black Rock City, not the destination. It’s a community that springs from the sand and leaves no trace when it’s ended. It’s kind of like Brigadoon, except they burn a giant statue in a bachanal rite. This year’s Burning Man runs from 8/28 to 9/5, and you have got to be there. Tickets? Yeah, we’ve got tickets. What did you expect? We have them waiting for you. We’re VIP Concierge!! Check out the package:
Get your Burning Man on in the wildest way possible! We have it all, and it’ll be waiting for you. Please do not hesitate to contact The Lexo Club Concierge for more information about the festival and are exclusive VIP ticket packages. Regular tickets are also available. The biggest, most happening, most awesome electronic music event just had its 22th birthday, and 2022 will surely be even wilder and more exciting. Of course, this EDM festival keeps raising the bar when it comes to 3 days of over-the-top entertainment. It’s the most raving of all the raves. It has seven stages that span the picturesque Bayfront Park, including the Main Stage, the Live stage, the MegaStructure, the Worldwide stage, the UMF Radio stage, the Resistance stage and the Oasis stage. You won’t find any classic rock here. All you’ll hear is the tightest, hardest hitting EDM that there is, and that’s saying something. EDM has grown up quickly and aged well.

Journey through the UAE from the bustling souks and imposing skyscrapers of Dubai to a camp amongst the desert dunes of Oman. This retreat offers the perfect blend of cultural discovery, glamour and gastronomy. As the high-octane hub of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai's perpetually evolving skyline is where tradition and grandiose vision collide. Ferraris are a more common sight than the traditional Dhows that hark back to the city's humble beginnings as a fishing settlement. Shopping is a favourite pastime here. Indulge in some retail therapy with a personal shopper who will accompany you to all the best boutiques and ateliers at some of Dubai's mega malls, shops and souks. For a truly exclusive treat, sit down for a traditional Emirati afternoon tea with a royal. Coffee is a part of Arabic hospitality, so sample a camel milk cappuccino or a refreshing jellab – both quintessential local flavours. Far from the bustling souks and imposing skyscrapers, stay in a traditional camp amongst the desert dunes where you'll witness falconry displays and horse shows or watch Tanoura dancers spin to the folkloric sounds of Sufi music. End your day stargazing with an expert astronomer or fireside listening to local myths and legends as told by a Bedouin storyteller. In this serene, sandy landscape, the aromas of shisha and spiced meats wafting through the air and the sounds of nocturnal desert creatures coming to life is a multi-sensory indulgence. They are both ‘shown’ seasonally, their appeal is multi-sensorial, and they each incite passion and obsession.
The Garden Museum’s spring/summer 2022 exhibition will explore the use of roses in fashion from the Victorian era to today, with designs from Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy, Ashish and Comme des Garçons amongst other historic and modern collections. Throughout history artists, designers and writers have explored this fragrant flower and its deterrent thorns (technically they are prickles) – a conjunction of opposites – to draw out illusions to love, beauty, sexuality, sin, rites of passage, degradation, and death. A creative collaboration between guest curator Amy de la Haye and set designer Simon Costin, this exhibition will also draw inspiration from the Garden Museum collection and gardens to explore the tensions between wild and cultivated, natural and artificial roses within fashion apparel, image making and contemporary craft practices. Fashions designed by Alexander McQueen (fashion’s rosarian) and Comme des Garçons will be shown alongside ‘rosy’ undergarments dating from the 18th century and the latest gender-neutral designs by Ashish. Accessories will include including millinery by Stephen Jones and Philip Treacy; a rose bucket bag by Lulu Guinness and a selection of gorgeously decorated fans. Simon Costin’s dramatic ‘Rose and the Nightingale’ neckpiece – which ruptures the wearer’s skin when worn – and a jet mourning brooch will communicate the rose as a metaphor for the savage pain of love unfulfilled and forever lost. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue and a programme of public events including talks, workshops and a Friday Late. Tickets are priced at £14.95 per person (including VAT + Booking Fees). Discounts available to senior citizens & children aged 7-18 years of age. Children under the age of 7 years old, attend for free. Please contact The Lexo Club Concierge if you would like more information or to make a booking with us... Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear is the first major V&A exhibition to celebrate the power, artistry and diversity of masculine attire and appearance. Contemporary looks by legendary designers and rising stars will be displayed alongside historical treasures from the V&A's collections and landmark loans: classical sculptures, Renaissance paintings, iconic photographs, and powerful film and performance.
The exhibition showcases the variety of possible masculinities across the centuries from the Renaissance to the global contemporary: from looks by Gucci, Harris Reed, Grace Wales Bonner and Raf Simons, to paintings by Sofonisba Anguissola and Joshua Reynolds, contemporary artworks by David Hockney and Omar Victor Diop, to an extract from an all-male dance performance by Matthew Bourne's New Adventures. The exhibition presents around 100 looks alongside 100 artworks, displayed thematically across three galleries, Undressed, Overdressed, and Redressed. Undressed explores the male body and underwear, looking at how classical European ideals of masculinity have been perpetuated and challenged over the centuries. Plaster casts of the Apollo Belvedere and the Farnese Hermes – which highlight a tradition of depicting idealised male bodies draped in textiles that reveal more than they conceal – will be juxtaposed with fashion by Jean-Paul Gaultier and A-COLD-WALL*, and prints and photography by Lionel Wendt, Zanele Muholi and Isaac Julien. Tickets are priced at £20 per person. Children under the age of 11 enter for free. Student discount is also available. Rotten Row in London's Hyde Park, has been the most famous equestrian venue in England for 300 years. We ride horses in Hyde Park and beside The Serpentine lake, in the most beautiful setting for horse riding in a capital city anywhere in the world. Hyde Park was also used as a London 2012 Olympic venue. They have dedicated team of staff who escort and teach on rides outside in the park and lessons in the arena. They usually start riders who want to learn with lessons rides through Hyde Park as it’s easier to learn the basics in a more comfortable environment. Once you have mastered the basics and can ride independently through the park, they will move into the outdoor arena where you will be working towards more advanced movements. At Hyde Park Stables, they welcome visitors with no experience of horse riding to experience seeing part of London on horseback. All rides are escorted by our instructors. All riders will start on the lead rein until the instructor has assessed your capability. Novice riders can be kept safely on the lead rein whereas more experienced riders can have the opportunity to ride independently. It is important to honestly state your riding ability and experience so we can match you with your perfect horse and everyone can have a more enjoyable ride. Although we take all reasonable precautions for your safety, you must accept that riding is a risk sport. Hyde Park Stables offer adults and children semi-private and private horse rides, horse riding lessons and arena lessons, all year round in Hyde Park London. Human Rights Watch is one of the world’s leading independent organisations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. We work tenaciously to lay the legal and moral groundwork for deep rooted change and fight to bring greater justice and security to people around the world. Through our Human Rights Watch Film Festival we bear witness to human rights violations and create a forum for courageous individuals on both sides of the lens to empower audiences with the knowledge that personal commitment can make a difference. The film festival brings to life human rights abuses through storytelling in a way that challenges each individual to empathise and demand justice for all people.
The HRW Film Festival currently screens in over 20 cities around the world throughout the year. The festival's programming committee operates out of the New York office to screen more than 500 films each year. Through a rigorous vetting process, that includes review by Human Rights Watch’s programmatic staff, the festival chooses approximately 40 films each year to participate in our various festivals. It is then up to the particular city and its programming committee to choose films from this final selection for their specific festival. In selecting films for the festival, Human Rights Watch concentrates equally on artistic merit and human rights content. The festival encourages filmmakers around the world to address human rights subject matter in their work and presents films from both new and established international filmmakers. Though the festival rules out films that contain unacceptable inaccuracies of fact, we do not bar any films on the basis of a particular point of view.
