The Gingerbread City is exactly that — a miniature city made from gingerbread. Houses, skyscrapers, railway stations, bridges, shopfronts and other infrastructure are crafted from the spiced biscuit, held together with all manner of fondants and icings, and decorated with sweets, chocolates and goodies. Basically, every child's (and lots of adults') dream.

​​LEDs illuminate the biscuity buildings, and in the past, a train set has been sent weaving seamlessly among the sweet structures (fingers crossed for the same this year). Don't fire up your oven just yet though. The Gingerbread City is put together by teams of architects, civil engineers and other professionals, who all get competitive to make their structure the sweetest of them all — with first, second and third place prizes up for grabs. Each company or team is assigned a plot within the model town, and then designs, makes, bakes and decorates a structure for that plot.

This year is the fifth time The Gingerbread City has been exhibited in London, and it's taking up residence in Belgravia for the first time. It's open to visitors for five weeks over Christmas and New Year. Nature and the City is the theme, with a focus on rewilding. Forests, flood plains, urban farming and wetland plots were made available to participants, though we don't yet know what the results will be. A herd of rewilded gingerbread bison, perhaps?

The Gingerbread City 2021 is at 6-7 Motcomb Street, Belgravia, from 4 December 2021-9 January 2022. Tickets are £14 adult/£8.50 child, and need to be booked in advance via their website directly or by contacting the concierge and all money raised goes to the Museum of Architecture Charity Fund.

After a year away, the Royal Albert Hall is thrilled to open its doors for another sparkling Christmas season. Marking their 150th anniversary as the home of Christmas in London, this iconic venue has a programme full of festive fun to enjoy with your friends and family. With more than 50 performances across 27 days, this London landmark will be brimming with Christmas cheer this season.
New shows for 2021 include an evening with international opera star Jonas Kaufmann, an in-concert screening of movie classic The Muppet Christmas Carol, and a special Royal Albert Hall edition of variety show Christmas Compendium of Reason – hosted by Professor Brian Cox and Robin Ince.

And the season features many classic favourites including Carols at the Royal Albert Hall, The Nutcracker, the London Community Gospel Choir, My Christmas Orchestral Adventure, Royal Choral Society, and Handel’s Messiah – which has been performed at the Hall since 1871.

And Father Christmas at the Hall will feature, with storytime sessions running up to 9 times a day from 2-21 December. Other shows in the Hall’s smaller spaces include Christmas jazz evenings with Earl Okin and The Shirt Tail Stompers, and an evening with the Jason Frederick Cinematic Trio celebrating Vince Guaraldi’s music from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

It's been nearly two years since our last trip to the Continent, so there's no doubt The Witcher Season 2 is among the most eagerly anticipated TV Shows this side of Christmas.

The eight episodes of The Witcher Season 2 are set to continue the story of the eponymous, monster-hunting Geralt of Rivia, played once again by big-screen Superman Henry Cavill. The season 1 finale ensured that the show's (sometimes confusing) multiple timelines are now aligned, uniting Geralt with orphaned princess Ciri (Freya Allan) - just as their respective destinies decreed. We're also guessing it won't be too long before they cross paths with the show's third viewpoint character, the mage known as Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra).

Tate Modern presents a rare chance to experience two of Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirror Rooms. These immersive installations will transport you into Kusama's unique vision of endless reflections. Infinity Mirrored Room - filled with the Brilliance of Life is one of Kusama's retrospective at Tate Modern. It is shown alongside Chandler of Grief, a room that creates the illusion of a boundless universe of rotating crystal chandeliers.

A small presentation of photographs and moving images - some on display for the first time - provides historical context for the global phenomenon that Kusama's mirrored rooms have become today. Born in 2929 in Matsumoto, Japan, Kusama came to international attention in 1960s New York for a wide-changing creative practice that has encompassed installation, painting, sculpture, fashion design and writing. Since the 1970s she has lived in Tokyo, where she continues to work prolifically to international acclaim.

The pop-up in Coal Drops Yard will be stocked with products donated from COS, The Body Shop, S120, EMIN + PAUL and more, plus a pair of PJs from Cara Delevingne and a one-off sketch by Downton Abbey costume designer Anna Robbins, which will all be raffled off with the money raised going to The Girls’ Network.
