 The World Darts Championship, the sport’s biggest event of the calendar year, kicks off on Wednesday as stars fight it out at London’s Alexandra Palace for a chance to make history.
With a staggering £2.5 million prize fund where the victor will take home £500k, the event sees the return of fans to the capital’s Ally Pally after Covid-19 forced players to play behind closed doors last year. During 2021’s pandemic-struck event, current world number one Gerwyn Price lifted his first ever World Championship title after a 7-3 win over long-term foe Gary Anderson. The Welshman is currently the favourite to successfully retain his title (10/3) and his defence starts on day one of this great event.
