 2022 promises to be an extra-special year for MTV’s legendary Video Music Awards, better known as the VMAs. MTV has been broadcasting hits morning, noon and night for more than 40 years, which is longer than many of today’s music fans have been alive. The very first VMAs were hosted by entertainment legends Bette Midler and Dan Aykroyd way back in 1984. Since then, the torch has been passed to an impressive string of A-listers ranging from Marlon Wayans and Eddie Murphy to Miley Cyrus and Doja Cat in 2021. The funny thing is, the show just keeps getting better. The MTV VMAs are scheduled for Sunday, August 28th, 2022, at Newark’s Prudential Center, home of the New Jersey Devils. Not to be a buzz kill, but this is a vaccinated award show. To comply with health guidelines, all attendees will be asked to provide proof of vaccination.
