Fashion is back! That was the collective feeling as the spring 2022 collections wrapped in early October with Nicolas Ghesquière’s masquerade ball for Louis Vuitton. In an outdoor passage of the Louvre, models swapped N95s for extravagantly bejewelled sunglasses and donned pannier dresses for a 21st century Belle Epoque.
But now it’s January and the only thing that’s roaring is the Omicron variant. The status of the upcoming men’s season, scheduled to start in Florence early next week, is in question, and who knows what state the world will be in by the women’s shows (start date: February 11). Still, there’s lots to look forward to – from Glenn Martens’s Jean Paul Gaultier couture intervention to Riccardo Tisci’s Burberry pre-fall collab with Lea T – whether events wind up being IRL, virtual, or, as is most likely, somewhere in between. The Lexo Club are proud to offer packages for the Louis Vuitton, who will hold two shows at 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM on Thursday 20th of January 2022. The posthumous collection by Virgil Abloh was already 95% completed by the time of his unexpected passing last November. If you are interested then please contact The Lexo Club Concierge for more information regarding pricing and to organise your attendance. At Kensington Palace in the newly-conserved historic Orangery, this new temporary exhibition explores the intimate relationship between fashion designer and royal client, revealing the process behind the creation of a number of the most important couture commissions in royal history.
On display will be the wedding dress of Diana, Princess of Wales, on show for the first time at Kensington Palace in 25 years, in addition to a rare, surviving toile for the 1937 coronation gown of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother; consort of King George VI. The display also features never-before-seen items from the archives of some of the most celebrated royal couturiers of the 20th century, set alongside examples of the glittering gowns and stylish tailoring created for three generations of royal women. There will be some surprises for fashion fans. If you're interested in this exhibition then it is available until the 2nd of January 2022 and tickets can be obtained by requesting them from the concierge. NOW Gallery is delighted to announce that multidisciplinary artist Lydia Chan has been selected for the 2021 Design Commission. The aim of this Commission is to create a space for visitors to come and perform in, interacting with a narrative that explores the bubbly fantastical qualities of science fiction in a time where science is so filled with doom and gloom. Lydia has collaborated with digital artists Songyee Kim and Thibault Evrard to create an AR experience, a portal between digital and physical.
A self-defined maximalist, Lydia is a set designer and multidisciplinary artist who loves monsters, designer toys and cartoons. The artist’s bold and narrative building aesthetic has established her as one of the most exciting young set designers working in the industry today, with clients including Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney, Vogue China, Gucci and Converse. Lydia is interested in nature through the goggles of the artificial, exploring the idea that through isolation in our homes, the natural world becomes more foreign to us. Lockdown may be over but isolation remains in our subconsciousness. Like space explorers treading on a foreign planet, we are still acclimating to the attributes of our new environment. Through an alternative lens she has reinterpreted nature as an alien world. Tickets for this event are complimentary for all members and can be obtained by requesting them from The Lexo Club Concierge at any time.
